News: Congratulations to Sir Antony Gormley

03 January 2014

Hargreaves customer and friend of over 20 years has been awarded a knighthood in the New Year Honours List

Contemporary Artist and Sculptor Antony Gormley, whose works include "The Angel of the North" and "Another Place", receives his Knighthood for services to the Arts.

Antony was one of the first artists to trust Hargreaves with the production of his precious commissions in the early 1990's. We have since worked together on a number of projects and have an exclusive arrangement to include four astonishingly unique bollards designed by Antony in our Ferrous Elite cast iron street furniture product range.

Some of Antony's sculptures can be seen in our Art Castings Gallery.

Winner of the Turner Prize in 1994 and appointed OBE in 1997, the Knighthood celebrates his continuing relevance and longstanding input to UK Arts. We are delighted to see Sir Antony's work gaining such recognition.

Hargreaves MD Michael Hinchliffe said:
‘Antony has undoubtedly made a massive contribution to the world of Arts and furthermore is a fantastic ambassador for the UK’ , a sentiment that is shared by all at Hargreaves.
