News: Hargreaves' Curious presentation at Kings Cross

09 September 2015

Over the August Bank Holiday weekend Kings Cross was home to a free festival of knowledge and learning. Called 'Curious?' it was described as a fusion of science, culture, art and unexpected performances.

Events spread out over the entire Kings Cross development and included areas for debates and lectures, performance and dance, making and doing experiments, participating and performance, digital technologies and a screening pod. In addition to the entertainment and learning there was also a rich and varied assortment of wonderful places to eat.

Kings Cross DevelopmentHargreaves Foundry were invited to present an informal talk about how we manufactured the 396 cast iron columns for the iconic One Pancras Square. Andy Knight, Hargreaves Foundry Business Manager, duly responded and set off to London with a Powerpoint presentation. One of the features of all the presentations was the presence of a ‘live’ cartoonist! Essentially, as Andy was delivering his presentation, a rather talented cartoonist was drawing it straight to a whiteboard.
The cartoonist was from Scriberia http://www.scriberia.co.uk/ a well renowned graphic facilitation company. They somewhat uncannily managed to encapsulate the history of Hargreaves and the manufacture of the columns onto a single sheet. We were so impressed we decided to share it with you, simply open the Pdf below.
